Modern approaches to the prevention, treatment and restoration of the injured periodontal complex: a review

Abstract
Background. Inflammatory and non-inflammatory periodontal diseases, mechanical and chemical injuries to the oral mucosa and connective tissue attachment of the tooth are daily problems in the practice of a dentist. Their local treatment is based on the use of adhesive pharmacological substances, most of which contain synthetic active or auxiliary substances. Additionally, not all drugs can be sustained on the oral mucosa or in the periodontal pocket for an extended period, allowing for prolonged release and selective delivery of active pharmaceutical substances directly to the affected area. It is necessary to study in detail the oral microbiome and the causes of its imbalance; drugs aimed at restoring the damaged periodontal complex, namely, studying their composition and pharmacological effects.
Aim. To analyze the data of domestic and foreign literature on the subject of modern approaches to the prevention, treatment, restoration of periodontal tissues after their damage and the creation of the latest opportunities to eliminate this problem.
Methodology. Search and analysis of publications in scientometric databases (eLIBRARY, PubMed) on the issue of modern methods of prevention and treatment of complications of the periodontal complex tissues that occur at the stages of orthopedic treatment.
Results. Despite the large number of drugs available on the domestic and foreign markets, the problem of periodontal diseases remains relevant. The presence of synthetic substances in medications helps to stabilize the pathological process more quickly, but does not eliminate the possibility of developing dysmicrobiocenosis.
Conclusion. Development of a new, clinically effective domestic drug based on an adhesive pharmacological substrate, which will promote rapid healing of the wound site, prevent the entry of additional infectious agents, and not lead to dysbiotic processes.
