The clinical significance of tissue markers of endothelial dysfunction in acute or chronic periodontitis needs to be clarified.</p> <p><bold>Materials and methods.</bold> The results of the examination of 65 patients with chronic generalized periodontitis (CP), 35 patients with chronic coronary heart disease (CHD), and 35 patients with combined pathology including CHD and CP were presented. Clinical instrumental examination, assessment of the functional state of the endothelium, immunohistochemical, and morphometric studies were performed.</p> <p><bold>Results.</bold> Patients with moderate CP were characterized by functional changes in the endothelium, decreased expression of the vasodilating factor (e-NO-synthase), and endothelial progenitor cells (CD34<sup>+</sup>cells) in the vascular wall. In patients with CHD without periodontitis, there was also a decrease in the expression and optical density of endothelial NO-synthase and endothelial progenitor cell in the periodontal vessels.</p> <p><bold>Conclusion.</bold> Apparently, changes in the expression of endothelial NO-synthase and endothelial progenitor cells (CD34+cells) in the vascular wall are generalized, and the gum can serve as a promising material for the early assessment of endothelial dysfunction.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Цель.</bold> Изучение роли взаимовлияния заболеваний пародонта и кардиоваскулярной патологии. Нуждается в уточнении клиническое значение изменений тканевых маркеров эндотелиальной дисфункции в течении хронического пародон-тита.</p> <p><bold>Материал и методы. </bold>Представлены результаты обследования 65 пациентов с хроническим генерализованным пародонтитом (ХГП), 35 пациентов с хронической ишемической болезнью сердца (ИБС) и 35 пациентов с сочетанной патологией — ИБС и ХГП. Проводили клиническое инструментальное обследование, оценку функционального состояния эндотелия, иммуногистохимические, морфометрические исследования.</p> <p><bold>Результаты.</bold> Для пациентов с ХГП средней степени тяжести характерны функциональные изменения эндотелия, снижение экспрессии в сосудистой стенке вазодилатирующего фактора (e-NO-синтазы) и маркера предшественников эндотелиальных клеток (CD34<sup>+</sup>-клеток). У пациентов с ИБС без патологи пародонта также выявлено снижение площади экспрессии и оптической плотности эндотелиальной NO-синтазы и ПЭК в сосудах десны.</p> <p><bold>Заключение. </bold>По видимому, изменения экспрессии синтазы оксида азота и ПЭК в сосудистой стенке носят генерализованный характер, а десна может служить перспективным материалом для ранней оценки нарушений функций эндотелия.</p></trans-abstract><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">periodontitis; endothelial dysfunction; ischemic heart disease</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">пародонтит; эндотелиальная дисфункция; ишемическая болезнь сердца</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Eremin AV, Lipatova TE, Lepilin AV, Eremin VI.
