The physicomechanical and osteointegrative properties of hydroxiapatite-filled polylactide used for maxillo-facial osteplasty

Volozhin A.I., Zharkov A.V., Krasnov A.P., Grigoryan A.S., Losev F.F.

Abstract

The physicomechanical properties of a composite that consists of polylactide (PL) filled with hydroxiapatite (HAP), depend on the quantity and the granulometric composition of the mineral. The use of monodispersed HAP in a filling interval of 20% to 40% worsens the properties of the composite, increases the number of micropores, and lowers the density, strength, and elastic modulus of the material. Adhesion of polydispersed HAP to PL is higher than that of monodispersed HAP, thus increasing the parameters of the limiting wetting angle and the density of the structure. Implantation of PL composite filled with polydispersed HAP into defects in rat femoral bone and rabbit mandibular angle favors more prominent osteogenesis than the use of "pure" PL, and leads to degradation and fragmentation of implanted materials, as well as more intensive bone tissue neoformation.

Comparison of the adhesive strength of ceramic coatings with BT-1-0-M alloy frame

Peregudov А.В., Dashkova M.S., Bykova M.V., Lebedenko I.Y.

Abstract

The authors present comparative analysis of the adhesive strength parameters of various ceramic coatings with a new Russian titanium-based alloy for metalloceramic dental prostheses. Basing on their data, the authors give recommendations on what ceramic coating is preferable to use in the production affixed orthopedic constructions on frames made of the new alloy.

Comparison of the physicomechanical and operational properties of cold-setting acrylic resins for transfer and repair of removable dental prosthesis

Markin P.Y., Grinyova T.V., Grigoryev A.G., Lebedenko I.Y.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare "StomAcryl repair", a new Russian acrylic dental cold polymerization material for transfer and repair of removable dental prosthesis, with four foreign analogues, Vertex self curing, Triplex cold, GC Rebaron, and Protacryl M; two parameters of physicomechanical and two parameters of operational properties of these materials were studied. The results of the study demonstrate advantages of the Russian material according to elastic modulus; according to the rest parameters, this material is much better than the Ukrainian Protacryl M and is practically equal to Japanese and German analogues.

Diagnostics of maxillofacial venous dysplasias in children

Yevdokimov G.V., Dyakova S.V., IvanovA. V., Panov V.O.

Abstract

Diagnostics and differential diagnostics of venous dysplasias (VD) and other vascular diseases, as well as choice of their treatment, present topical and difficult problems, since most techniques that are used to treat vascular neoplasms, such as hormone therapy, cryo- and laser therapy etc., are ineffective in VD.

Electromagnetic radiation on the frequency of nitric oxide absorption and emission molecular spectrum in surgical treatment of periodontitis

Lepilin А.V., Finokhina О.A., Yerokhina N.L., Krenitsky A.P., Tupikin V.D., Mayborodin A.V., Betsky О.V., Tuchin V.V., Fedosov I.V., Mareyev G.О.

Abstract

The authors present the first study of the efficacy of electromagnetic radiation on the frequency of nitric oxide absorption and emission molecular spectrum in treatment of periodontitis. The use of the method resulted in certain clinical improvements (reduction in gum mucosal edema and hyperemia) and betterments in patients' sensations (pain and discomfort reduction). The cytokine profile (the ratio of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines: TNF-a, IL-8, IL-4) and the index of secretory A immunoglobulin normalized, which evidenced the efficacy of the therapy. An optimal regimen of the application of the method was developed.

Complex treatment of periodontitis using low-frequency vibroacoustic oscillations

Yefanov О., Potego N.К.

Abstract

The authors studied the use of vibroacoustic oscillations to increase the efficacy of complex therapy of periodontitis. The subjects of the study were 150 patients suffering from mild, moderate, or severe periodontitis. The results of the treatment were controlled using such clinicofunctional methods and indices as Schiller-Pisarev test, periodontal index, hygiene index, thermometry, rheoparodontography, and laser Doppler flowmetry. In treatment, "Vitaphon " device was used as the source of vibroacoustic oscillations. The authors developed the therapeutic technique and indications to treatment, and performed analysis of the therapeutic action of different vibroacoustic regimes. Considering the dynamics of patients' complaints and the results of clinicofunctional examinations, the study demonstrates therapeutic effects of vibroacoustic oscillations, such as periodontal blood flow acceleration, which, in turn, diminishes stagnation and improves trophic processes.

Side-reactions to local anesthetics in dental practice

Podoynikova M.N., Khaltuyeva N.V., Larentsova L.I.

Abstract

Wide use of local anesthetics (LA) in dentistry determines high incidence of side-reactions to them. The development of complications connected with the use of LA depends on the general condition of the patient (age, the presence of hepatic, renal, cardiovascular diseases, or high drug sensitivity), the degree of the anesthetic's toxicity, its dose and blood concentration, peculiarities of its pharmacokinetics, the technique of administration, the degree of tissue vascularization in the site of injection, as well as the presence of a vasoconstrictor and additive agents in its solution. Practice shows that there is cross sensitivity to drugs belonging to different pharmacological groups, which should be taken into account when administering LA. A dentist should remember about possibility of serious side-reactions to LA, and follow recommendations on their administration (doses, contraindications, and interaction), as well as take into account allergy background and be prepared to take necessary emergency measures in the event of complications.

Development of dental service in Russian Turkestan in 1917-1924

Mavlyanova N.T.

Abstract

Historical facts concerning the establishment of dental service in Russian Turkestan were studied. They demonstrate that the development of the service was complicated. The main role in it was played by the People's Commissar for Public Health of Turkestan Republic, as well as by the progressive part of the population and medical society. In 1917, the system of free medical aid, available for public, was created within a very short period of time.
