LABORATORY SUBSTANTIATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MEDSIL, A NEW RUSSIAN SILICONE IM-PRESSION MATERIAL
Abstract
The main physicomechanical and operational properties of MedSil, a new Russian A-silicone impression material, and two foreign analogues produced by Germany and Great Britain, were compared. The following parameters were studied: final hardness Shore A; breaking strength; residual elongation; breaking strength value at 10% and 50% elon-gation; 24-hour shrinkage; compression shrinkage and operational properties by M. A. Muradov method. The study showed that MedSil, a new Russian material for two-layer impressions, meets contemporary requirements for impression materials, and in not inferior to the studied foreign analogues according to the main operational as well as elastic and strength characteristics

STUDY OF THE PHYSICOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SAMPLES OF NEW PALLADIUM-BASED ALLOYS FOR CLASP DENTAL PROSTHESES
Abstract
New palladium-based dental alloys were studied. On the basis of a complex of physico-mechanical properties, palla-dium-based С series alloy containing palladium, gold, silver, tin, and ruthenium was recognized as the best one. This alloy may be recommended for manufacturing clammer dental prostheses without a risk of deformation or breakage of supporting and fixing elements.

THE ROLE OF MACRO-AND MICROELEMENTS IN OCCURRENCE OF CIRCULAR CARIES IN INFANTS
Abstract
Data obtained by the authors demonstrate that the priority factor of caries occurrence in children is incorrect feeding including short lactation period as well as consumption of sweet formulae and carbohydrate-containing products between meals. Study of microelement composition demonstrated serious changes, possibly due to unbalanced feeding. Normalization of feeding alone is not enough to reestablish microelemental balance; the use of pharmaceuticals for additional cor-rection of mineral exchange disturbances is necessary. One of caries-predisposing factors is insufficient hard dental tissue mineralization due to incorrect feeding. Caries is a multifactor pathological process. Many factors are controllable; their action can be either eliminated or inhibited. This greatly depends on the awareness of mothers-to-be, as well as on the levels of sanitary knowledge on caries prevention.

POSSIBILITIES PROVIDED BY PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP) FOR JAW DEFECT PLASTY
Abstract
The results of bony defect plasty using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in 114 patients undergoing tooth extraction or aiveolar arch expansion were studied. PRP was applied alone or in combination with either collapan, a synthetic bone, or a jaw autograft. For comparison, bony wound osteogenesis through blood clot organization was analyzed. The study showed that PRP decreased postoperative inflammatory reaction and activated osteogenesis. Small defects healed com- pletely after they were filled with PRP. In cases of large defects, combination of PRP with collapan did not provide full reestablishment of the quantity and quality of bone tissue. The use of PRP with autobone for plasty of the alveolar part of mandible or alveolar process of maxilla leads to full reestablishment of the height and width of the bone, thus creating conditions for dental replacement.

ANALYSIS OF THE NOSOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF SOMATIC DISEASES IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC SAL-IVARY GLAND DISEASES. PART II: SIALADENOSIS AND CHRONIC SIALODOCHITIS
Abstract
The authors conducted a comparative analysis of the morbidity of patients with sialadenosis and chronic sialodochitis. The analysis revealed that patients with sialadenosis vs. controls most often suffered from various somatic diseases, such as chronic gastritis, colitis, hepatitis, cholecystitis (in the age group of more than 40), chronic prostatitis, various menstrual disorders, osteochondrosis, and diabetes mellitus. Frequent respiratory diseases suggest compromised immu- nity in these patients vs. controls. Cardiovascular diseases were significantly less frequent in this category of patients, which in general was more typical of all patients with salivary gland lesions.

NEW TRENDS IN THE COURSE OF ODONTOGENIC OSTEOMYELITIS OF THE JAWS
Abstract
The author compares the clinical picture of odontogenic osteomyelitis of the jaws in 146 patients who were observed between 1965 and 1970, and 64 patients who were observed between 1999 and 2005. The diagnosis is difficult. Classical symptoms are rare. Presently, latent forms of the disease are found; acute and subacute stages of osteomyelitis are often misdiagnosed, especially in patients receiving antibiotics, and adequate treat- ment begins after the chronization of the process. Presently, progressive mandibular osteomyelitis, accompanied by frequent relapses, the absence of the demarcation of bone fusion foci, and advancement to new areas, has began to occur
