Healing of rabbit mandibular bone defects under implants of titanium and golden alloys with xenogenic mesenchymal stem cells
Abstract
The aim of the study was to ground the method consisting in the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) on a carrier of titanium and gold alloys to intensify reparative osteogenesis in an experiment on a rabbit mandible. The study shows that implantation of MSC into the bony wound stimulates reparative osteogenesis within one to four months of the experiment. The authors conclude that titanium and golden alloy carriers may be used to carry MSC to stimulate bone reparation.

The distribution of copper and silver in dental root tissues during apex-phoresis, and the degree of root canal permeability
Abstract
The objective was to study the influence of root canal permeability on the distribution of metal compounds in dental hard tissues and root canal system in apex-phoresis. The investigation shows that during apex-phoresis copper and silver ions move into dental roots due to anode solution of the active part of the silver-copper electrode. Besides, acids forming in the perielectrode space of the anode may dissolve the hydroxiapatite Ca5(PO4)3(OH) in the adjoining dental root dentin, which liberates calcium ions. Soluble, slightly soluble, and poorly soluble silver, copper, and calcium compounds appear in the dental root as a result of electrochemical and chemical processes. The metal salts are chlorides, sulphides, sulphates, fluorites, as well as a range of copper and silver complex compounds. These salts inlay root canal walls, fill microcanals, obturating them, and penetrate into dental root dentin. The processes described are of local character and only take place in the part of dental root where the active part of the silver-copper electrode is situated during the procedure. Due to this, in order to saturate the periapical part of the dental root and the apical delta with silver and copper, the root canal should be widened and penetrated not less than half the length of the dental root.

Aspects of radiological detection and instrumental processing of the root canals of maxillar and mandibular incisors and canines
Abstract
The results of studies have revealed that various methods of intraoral radiography and orthopantomography used to detect the root canals of maxillary and mandibular incisors, canines and premolars have serious limitations able to lead to inaccurate interpretation of obtained information before endodontological treatment. Radial computed tomography performed in the axial view is an objective technique to assess root canal structure. The choice of the technique of instrumental processing of root canals depends on peculiarities of root canal structure. The studies have defined the appropriateness of the use of a combined technique to prepare canals with a combination of tools belonging to different systems for one root canal.

Treatment of chronic generalized periodontitis with rosehippreparations
Abstract
The authors consider possibilities of the use of polysorb-immobilized rosehip oil to treat moderate chronic generalized periodontitis. They analyze observations of 80 patients aged 29 to 49 with moderate chronic generalized periodontitis, who were treated with this preparation. Long-term results demonstrate that the use of polysorb-immobilized rosehip oil is a prospective method to treat this disease.

Diagnostics of the dentoalveo-lar form of transversal incisor occlusion by front view head tel-erentgenogramms, and the condition of incisor and canine periodontum in patients aged 13 to 15
Abstract
Front view head telerentgenogramms of patients aged 13 to 15 with transversal incisor occlusion and physiological lateral tooth occlusion were analyzed. Dentoalveolar formula caused by changes in the position (incline) of the incisors and canines was established. Periostometry found a decrease in the tolerance of incisor and canine periodontum to horizontal load in patients with the dentoalveolar form of transversal incisor occlusion.

Ontogenetic assessment of general mechanisms providing the organism's resistance to maxillofacial pa- thology
Abstract
The physiological status and motor activity requirements (constitutional functional types) were used to evaluate the functional reserve of the organism and establish criteria of its resistance to common forms of dental pathology in primary schools students, adolescents, and adults. The data obtained demonstrate more favorable clinical features of caries, occlusion anomalies, and periodontal diseases in patients with moderate or high level of usual motor activity (UMA). Subjects with a low UMA level, having low working capacity and the highest index of regulatory mechanism tension, displayed the most substantial response.

The quality of marginal adjacency of composite fillings depending on the technique of working field isolation
Abstract
Electrodiagnostic evaluation of the marginal adjacency of 480 composite fillings was conducted; it was found that marginal adjacency was inadequate one year after restoration in patients in whom the working field during the procedure had been isolated relatively using cotton wool; this was even more noticeable in patients with a low level of enamel resistance, in devitalized teeth, and after the use of chemical hardening composites. The authors ground the appropriateness of absolute tooth isolation in everyday dental practice to raise the quality and durability of restorations.

A clinical investigation of the efficacy of treatment of chronicapical periodontitis
Abstract
The aim of the investigation was to assess the clinical efficacy of acroseal (Septodont, France), a calcium-containing preparation for constant root canal filling using mepasil, osomol 4 (Pierre Rolland, France) and metapaste (Biomed CO, Ltd., South Korea) during the course of treatment. One hundred and fifty-nine subjects aged 18 to 70 years (98 women and 61 men; 218 teeth in total) were treated and followed up. The main group consisted of 130 patients (184 teeth), who received conservative endodontal treatment with acroseal. The comparison group consisted of 29patients (34 teeth), in whom vitapex (Neo Dental Chemical, Japan) was applied. Between one and three years after treatment, a radiological examination was carried out; it showed that complete or partial recovery of the chronic focus was achieved in 93.5% of patients in the main group and 94% of patients in the comparison group.

Possibilities provided by spectral analysis in the comparison aspect of complex treatment of complicated course of mandibular fractures
Abstract
Forty-seven patients with mandibular fracture complicated with bony wound suppuration and phlegmon were examined; oral fluid with its macro- and microelements was studied. The study found that the level of calcium and silicon as well as P/Ca ratio were decreased, while the levels of phosphorus, strontium, and zinc, as well as Ca/Sr and Zn/Sr ratios, were stable. These variables, together with the clinical picture, made it possible to judge about the character of the inflammatory process and the lesion of bony structures, i.e. traumatic osteomyelitis.

The condition of the oral mucosa in patients with lymphoma during antitumor therapy
Abstract
The condition of the oral mucosa was assessed in 28 patients with lymphoproliferative diseases at different stages of the disease. Patients with lymphomas had alterations in the oral mucosa before the beginning of the cytostatic therapy, as well as substantial changes in the oral biocenosis. After polychemiotherapy their oral status changed significantly, non-specific resistance of the oral mucosa decreased, and the proportion of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms grew.

An analysis of the efficiency of endodontic treatment in oil andgas industry employees
Abstract
The data of a clinico-radiological examination of 159 subjects (98 women; 61 men) were analyzed retrospectively to assess the efficiency of endodontic treatment in oil and gas industry employees. The average of endodonticaily treated teeth was 6.4 per one person; the average of extracted teeth was 3.9 per one subject, and the average caries intensity was 20.2. Tool break-ojfs were found in 5% of the subjects, including those with unfilled canals and destructive processes at the apexes. In 2.9% of cases, complete destruction of the crown was revealed and the tooth cavity was not sealed. Perforation of the roots and tooth cavity floor took place in 25 or 2.4% of cases. The quality level of root canal filling did not exceed 34%; the clinical efficiency of the endodontic treatment in this group of patients was 76%.
