Comparative analysis polishability of zirconium and glass-fibre implant structures
Abstract
Using JSM-U3 electron microscope (Jeol, Japan), the quality of the surfaces of zirconium and glass-fiber implant structures was compared after grinding and polishing. The data of the study demonstrated that the quality of the surfaces of factory-made suprastractures was not high enough. Polishing is obligatory and improves the surface quality substantially. Dioxide zirconium suprastructures are the most polishable.

Patterns of the distribution of tension around the dental root depending on the shape of the occlusion surface of the dental stump when odontopreparation is performed
Abstract
Using mathematic calculations, patterns of the tensions and deformations around a single-root tooth were defined when odontopreparation was performed in an orthopedic dental clinic. The effects of the shape of the dental stump occlusion surface on the value and character of the distribution of tension when the tooth is loaded were detected.

Experimental comparative evaluation of several biomaterials used in Russian maxillofacial surgery
Abstract
The search for effective plastic materials that would be able to repair bony maxillofacial defects of different origins and localizations, both congenital and those after bony plastic operations, is far from being completed. One part of this problem is the choice of a biological material able to solve problems of dental and maxillofacial surgeons that would be able to efficiently and safely repair bony tissue. This makes it necessary to conduct experimental studies, including animal ones, to objectively evaluate the potential of different bony plastic materials and ground their clinical application in different situations.

Estimation of the effectiveness of methods to treat chronic temporomandibular joint arthritis
Abstract
The temporomandibular joints diseases and injuries present more topical maxillofacial problems due to complicated diagnostics and treatment. In our clinic, we performed examination and complex treatment of 78 patients, 20 of whom were treated conventionally while in 58 new methods of complex treatment were used. Two new pathogenetic methods of treatment of temporomandibular joint chronic arthritis were applied. We used Nimesulid, a selective cyclooxsigenaza-2 inhibitor, and ultrasonic therapy with Kortospan in the complex treatment. As a result, the joint functioning was improved, the patients recovered quickly, and chronic inflammatory complications were prevented as well.

The results of a clinical study of the functioning of two whole-ceramic lining systems
Abstract
The authors analyze the results of recovery of masticatory teeth with a destroyed occlusion surface using whole-ceramic linings of different types using two ceramic systems, IPS Empress 2 and Noritake EX 3. One year after the microprostheses were fixed in the oral cavity, the study demonstrated that the efficiency of orthopedic treatment using the ceramic systems being compared was high.

Analysis of the clinical state of teeth previously treated endodontically with the most popular tooth pastes (a follow-up study)
Abstract
The authors studied the quality and effectiveness of previous endodontic treatment while seeing the patients as dental therapeutists. They analyzed the number and frequency of exacerbations after the primary treatment in different groups of teeth as well as correlations between the sort of the filling material in the root channels and the frequency of exacerbations. Radiological examination of previously treated teeth with chronic periodontitis or an exacerbation of chronic periodontitis was performed, which made it possible to find and characterize periapical lesions as well as the quality of root channel filling.

Treatment and repair methods in cheek mucosa cancer
Abstract
The authors analyze data obtained from 57 patients treated for cheek mucosa cancer. Different approaches to treatment of the given category of patients (conservative, combined, and complex) are considered. In relation to the degree of dissemination and localization of the tumor different variants of repair of defects formed during surgical treatment are evaluated.

Caries intensity in 15-year-old children living in the Central Federal District of Russia
Abstract
Two National Oral Health Surveys (1996-1998 and 2007-2008) have been provided in order to investigate oral health level of Russian population. The aim of present article is to evaluate caries level among 15-yr-olds in Central Federal Region of Russia. 2252 adolescents aged 15 years old were examined in accordance with WHO criteria. The results showed that caries prevalence was 73,5%, mean DMFT - 2,97. There was a variation in DMFT values between different cities, rural and urban population. The amount of untreated lesions was higher in rural areas.

Visuametry and spectrometry in crystallosalivadiagnostics
Abstract
Quantitative visuametric and spectrometric standards were established on the basis of the study of spontaneous and initialized crystal formation in the oral fluid. For the first time, a combination of visual and instrumental methods of evaluation of biological medium dehydration was suggested to verify the results. The established standards can be used for further dental and other investigations implying studying oral fluid crystallization.

Increasing the efficacy of caries prevention using hermetics in Moscow schoolchildren
Abstract
Over the past ten years some dental materials as well as sealants with bioactive glass which releases either fluoride or calcium have been produced. For the fissure caries prevention Esterfill Ca/F sealant releasing fluoride and calcium and Esterfill FOTO without these minerals were applied to the sound first or second permanent molars of children (7-8- and 12-13-year-olds) from Moscow comprehensive schools. It was showed that both fissure sealants had rather good retention after 12 months. In the 7-8-years-old group Esterfill Ca/F and Esterfill FOTO had the same complete retention: 85,71% and 86,21% respectivly. Retention rate appeared to be better in the group of 12-13-year-olds: 92,16% permanent second molars were fully sealed with Esterfill Ca/F while 89,23% second molars - with Esterfill FOTO. At the end of the study no one sealed with Esterfill Ca/F occlusal surface including teeth with partial or total sealant loss had carious lesions, whereas 2 (3,45%) first molars sealed with Esterfill FOTO had developed caries. In comparison caries developed in occlusual surfaces of 10 (12,66%) control first molars and 9 (12,68%) control second molars which hadnt been sealed.

The effects of controlled oral hygiene of Tashkent schoolchildren on microbiocenosis parameters
Abstract
The oral microbial status of schoolchildren with controlled hygiene, who participated in a preventive program, was analyzed. Three groups of 10 to 12-year old schoolchildren were formed. Group one consisted of controls; Groups two and thee consisted of schoolchildren with caries of prophylactic groups with controlled or non-controlled oral hygiene. The study was guided by methodical recommendations of F. Yu. Garib, I. E. Narbayeva et al. (1994). Samples were taken before the launch of the program, on day 30, and 6 and 12 months later. The dynamic evaluation of the microbial status of schoolchildren with caries demonstrated that controlled tooth brushing had significant antimicrobial stabilizing effect, especially towards cariesogenic flora. The adhesive qualities and bacterial colonization, especially cariesogenic strains, mostly St.mutans and St.rattis, were the least prominent on tooth surface after the preventive program and were within normal values.

A clinico-statistical analysis of endodontic treatment with the most popular toothpastes conducted at a municipal outpatient clinic
Abstract
The article contains qualitative and quantitative data of an analysis of randomly chosen medical records of patients who had been treated endodontically for chronic pulpitis or an exacerbation of chronic pulpitis. Correlations between age, gender, tooth group, filling material in root channels, and the frequency of exacerbations after endodontic treatment were studied.
