AN EVALUATION OF THE ADHESIVE PROPERTIES OF "DENTIS" (A NEW GLASS-POLYALKENE CEMENT) VERSUS OTHER MATERIALS USED IN FIXATION OF FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS

Beitan A.V., Bolshakov G.V., Grinyova T.V., Dobrovolsky P.V.

Abstract

"Dentis", new glass-polyalkene cement, is not inferior to the modern Russian and foreign analogues in as far as its parameters of adhesion to metal are concerned. Sandblasting is the most acceptable method of preparing the metal surface prior to fixation by "Dentis". The oxide film on the metal surface does not reliably enhance the adhesion of cements and, in some cases, it even reduces it. According to the study results, the "Dentis"cement can be recommended for permanent fixation of fixed dentures in clinical orthopedic stomatology.7

Small-invasion methods in the orthopedic treatment involving super-elastic alloys (Communication 2. Systemic approach to designing the dentures and splinting devices made from super-elastic alloys))

Yudin P.S.

Abstract

Three evolution stages can be isolated in the application of titanium nickelide (TiNi) in the orthopedic dental treatment: the initial stage - replacement of defects in tooth rows by traditional removable or fixed dentures based on TiNi; the transitional stage - enhancement of the useful functions in tooth replacement by a more comprehensive usage of the TiNi properties and through development of principally new constructions of dentures; and the stage of radical revision of aims and potentialities of using the NiTi alloys in the orthopedic treatment of patients with different stomatological pathologies - transition to the realization of the stomatological therapeutic biotechnical system (contemporary stage). The modern achievements in stomatology, in as far as the use of super-elastic allows in perfecting the small-invasion orthopedics is concerned, drastically transform the target-setting by reducing it to the following: recovery of the main tooth functions and of the original tooth condition))

Correction of the regional blood flow by perftoran in patients with maxillofacial deformations

Orlov А.А., Karmen N.В., Marinicheva I.G., Petrova I.N., Ippolitov V.P., Mayevsky E.I.

Abstract

The submicron perftoran emulsion, unlike erythrocytes, can penetrate through narrowed and spasmodic vessels. An experimental study was made in animals for the purpose of defining the above capacity of perftoran. The obtained data demonstrated that the preparation can be used in clinical practice. A group of patients with maxillofacial pathology, who underwent the reconstructive surgery on soft and osseous tissues, was composed. A 4-fold increase in the maximum value of the linear blood flow and in the mean velocity of the volumetric blood flow was registered in one hour after administration of perftoran in small doses. The index of the distal vascular resistance was normalized

Clinical and X-ray analysis of treatment results in posttraumatic defects and deformations of the orbit bottom

Fyodorova S.V., Rabukhina N.A., Karayan A.S., Kudinova E.S.

Abstract

The results of comparative analysis and treatment of 189 patients with posttraumatic defects and deformation of the orbit bottom obtained during a 10-year period at the Central Research Institute of Dentistry are described in the paper. Development stages of the X-ray examination scheme as applicable to the above category of patients are characterized. A high information density and efficiency of using additional ray programs in modeling and planning of surgeries are pointed out. Methods of coping with the pathology in question and the nature of complications are defined. The feasibility of using the surgical methods with minimal number of treatment stages is substantiated; a trend related with using the autoplasty materials with few metal attachments is underlined

Ushakov A.I., Mitronin A.V., Grebennikova I.P., Robustova T.G., Ushakov A.A., Gakoyeva A.A.

Abstract

The results of mandibuloplasty by the "collapan" biomaterial performed in 1182 patients are described in the paper. Eight groups were composed with respect to a surgical technique; they are: group 1 - the biomaterial was administered post-apically in the treatment of chronic destructive periodontitis (511 patients); group 2 - "collapan" was used in tooth extraction to keep up the osseous tissue volume (82patients); group 3 - "collapan" was used in tooth-preserving procedures (262patients); group 4 - "collapan" was used in immediate intraosseous implantation (132patients); group 5 - delayed intraosseous implantation with "collapan " (Inpatients); group 6 - plastic surgery of the alveolar process in the upper and lower jaws (different modifications) with "collapan" (402 patients); group 7 - reconstruction of the upper jaw with shifting of the maxillary-sinus bottom, "collapan" was used as biomaterial (110 patients); group 8 - surgical repositioning of the lower alveolar nerve including the use of "collapan" (6 patients). According to osteogenesis, reorganization was registered in 211 patients of groups 1,2,3,4 and 8; remodeling of the material into the mature bone by 50% of the initial material volume occurred in 902 patients of groups 5 and 6; and the fibrous or osteoid tissue formed in 69 patients (group 7) after the plastic surgery. "Collapan" is not inferior to foreign biomaterials "Bio- Oss" or "Osteo-Graf. Antibacterial preparations and antiseptics, when added to "collapan", ensure a favorable postoperative course

An evaluation of rehabilitation of patients with temporomandibular joint malfunction concurrent with partial absence or pathological erasure of teeth, dropped lower facial part and distal mandibular shift diagnosed by magnetic resonance tomography

Оnора Е.N., Bryukhanov A.V.

Abstract

Twenty-two patients (females -12, males -10, aged 30 to 50) with temporomandibular joint malfunction (TJM) concurrent with partial absence or pathological erasure of teeth, dropped lower facial part and distal mandibular shift underwent examinations. Their condition was evaluated and the joint elements were localized by the method of functional magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). The study of the mentioned category of patients revealed disorders of the spacious orientation of anatomic elements in the joint complex. The lower facial part was fixed, the teeth rows were coped with and the spacious orientation of the temporomandibular joint elements was normalized with MRT monitoring. Considering a high diagnostic value of MRT, the method can be recommended for examination of anatomic topography of the temporomandibular joint elements for diagnosis verification and for defining a volume of rehabilitation measures, and an orthopedic tactics

Determination of the interrelations between the Frankfurt and natural horizontals as well as between the Frankfurt horizontals drawn through the soft-tissue and osseous points

Polma L.V., Tomina S.V., Pushkar N.E.

Abstract

Lateral cephalograms and facial photographs are an important tool in clinical examinations. The purpose of the case study was to investigate the relationships between the Frankfurt horizontal drawn through the soft- and hard tissue points, the Frankfurt and natural horizontals, natural horizontal and the anterior cranial base. The lateral cephalometric radiography and facial photographs of 45 patients, aged 9 to 15, were made use of. The below results were obtained: the Frankfurt horizontals drawn through the soft- and hard tissue points failed to coincide - a mean angle of 12.7+5.33@0 was found between them. A mean angle of 5.03 ± 3.79@0 was found between the Frankfurt horizontal drawn through the hard tissue and the natural horizontal. Finally, a mean angle of 9.1 ± 4.02@0 was found between the natural horizontal and the anterior cranial base.
