X-ray phase analysis was made use of to examine 5 glass-ceramic samples for coating the metal frames of dentures; the study purpose was to identify their manufacturers. Identification signs were defined for each studied sample. The signs ensured a reliable determination of glass-ceramic variations. The potentialities of the method in identifying the glass-ceramic coating of a crown or a bridge denture by isolated enamel split, enamel-dentin splits or enamel-dentinopaque are conclusively demonstrated

Treatment results of 456patients with cancer of lips, mouth-cavity mucous tunics and mouth bottom by local hyperthermia and C02-laser were followed up. Exophytic cancer was shown to be preceded by limited hyperkeratosis and abrasive precancerous Manganotti's cheilitis. Exophytic cancer of tongue was preceded by verrucose leukoplakia, while its ulcerous variation was preceded by background diseases. No correlation was established between the clinical form and a preceding precancer in cancer of mouth bottom. The use of local \JHE-hyperthermia and C02-laser in the treatment cut essentially the rate of relapses. It is underlined as necessary to add more issues related with the diagnosis and treatment of precancer conditions to the training programs of students and postgraduates

Four hundred and sixty-three children residing in the regions of Lori and Shirak underwent epidemiological examinations. The prevalence of caries was found to be 83.6% and 97.4%, respectively. According to WHO criteria (Prevention of Oral Diseases, WHO, Second Draft, Geneva, 1981) the regions were classified as having the average and high intensity of caries (DMF index). The data of epidemiological examinations was used as a basis for defining the related methodological recommendations on differential caries prevention in Armenia

Influence of morphological changes exerted, with respect to age, by the masticatory tooth surfaces of the preferred and opposite chewing sides on the functional efficiency of masticatory apparatus was studied by means of chewing test and electromyography of the masticatory and temporal muscles. The obtained data revealed no significant age-related changes in the useful-activity volume associated with grinding the test product. A significantly reduced masticatory ability and masticatory efficiency was detected in persons aged 40 and older, which is due to a longer chewing time and to higher total power inputs of the masticatory muscles. A comparison of parameters of the bioelectric activity of the main masticatory muscle located on the right side, on the one hand, and on the left side, on the other hand, did not denote any statistically reliable prevalence of the preferred chewing side except for the indices of crushing and mastication observed in persons aged 40 and more. The significance of morphological changes in the masticatory tooth surface of the preferred chewing and opposite side is elucidated, with respect to age, within the orthopedic treatment involving fixed dentures.

Clarification of endocrine aspects in the development of osteoporosis has been recently in the focus of attention. Diabetes mellitus (DB) and diffusive toxic goiter (DTG) belong to widespread and severe pathologies of the endocrine system. The authors examined 149 patients with endocrine pathology; densitometry was made in 87 of them. It showed in DB and DTG a decreased density of bones in the lower extremities, which is reliably (p > 99% or 0.01) verified. The parameters change depending on a severity and type of the main disease
