The condition of parodontal tissue in children with dysplasia of the cardiac connective tissue
Abstract
One hundred and twenty-seven children with the syndrome of dysplasia of cardiac connective tissues (SDCCT), verified by echography, and 30 virtually healthy subjects, aged 7 to 14, underwent complex dental examinations. The examinees were shared between several groups: group I - children with sagging cardiac valves (27persons); group 2 - children with abnormally located chords (78 persons); group 3 - children with sagging cardiac valves and abnormally located chords (22persons); and group 4 - virtually healthy children (30 persons). The prevalence of the small mouth vestibule, malocclusion, abnormal attachment of soft tissues and of parodontal pathologies was found to be reliably higher in groups 1,2 and 3 versus the virtually healthy children (p < 0.05).
