Once more on distraction osteogenesis
Abstract
Discussed in the paper are intimate mechanisms of distraction osteogenesis; there is also a thorough description of advantages of distraction osteogenesis versus other methods designed to eliminate defects in the maxilla. General principles are recommended of how to grow up new bone. Finally, there is a description of an experience of treatment of oncology patients with extensive postoperative defects in the maxilla, who, before, surgery, received big doses of radiation and underwent chemotherapy in the process of distraction.

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the admaxillary gland: 45 observations
Abstract
Reported in the paper are data on 45 patients with mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) of the admaxillary gland (stage 1-9, stage II - 15, stage III - 14, and stage IV - 7). The clinical course combined with morphological findings is of primary importance in the MEC diagnosis. The significance of aspiration biopsy, ultrasound examination, computer tomography, magneto-resonance computer tomography and sialography etc. is evaluated. Incision biopsy is admissible within the diagnosis in complicated cases. Prognostication of MEC primarily depends on a disease stage

Outlooks and problems of neurotransplantation of human embryonic tissue in the treatment of peripheral-genesis neuropathy of the facial nerve
Abstract
It is pointed out in the paper that transplantation of embryonic nervous tissue proved to be effective in experimental and clinical studies undertaken in different branches of medicine. Due to this, it was expedient to use the method in the treatment of traumatic lesions of peripheral branches of the facial nerve. The authors analyze the results of clinical research implemented in the process of treatment of 27 patients with the pathology by using the method; the results testify to a considerable therapeutic effect of the method

A clinical-and-immunological description of destructive chronic periodontitis
Abstract
A clinical-and-immunological study was undertaken in patients with chronic destructive periodontosis (CDP), which proves it as feasible to discriminate between the below categories: 1. CDP with affection of no more than 2 teeth; 2. Multiple CDP; 3. CDP concomitant with other pathologies; and 4. CDP as an odontogenic focus triggering focal diseases. Different disorders of general immunity were established; they ranged from compensatory changes to chronic endogenous intoxication and depended directly on a type of chronic periodontosis and on its signs described by us. Chronic periodontosis leads to suppression and misbalance of both cellular and humoral local immunological reactions. Multiple CDP was found to result in secondary immune insufficiency, which must be corrected.

Plasma enriched by platelets in osteoplastic surgery on jaws
Abstract
Temporary dentures made by "Steri-oss" Co. were used in 52 patients, which enabled immediate prosthesis. Minidentures were fixed in 46 persons alongside with permanent dentures and only mini-dentures were fixed in another 6 persons. A total of 183 temporary dentures and 126 permanent implants as well as 26 temporary constructions for immediate fixation of dental prosthesis were installed. The installation was monitored by targeted pictures, visiography and X-ray computer tomography. Visiography proved to be most effective. All temporary implants ensured the functions and esthetic requirements for as long as 3 months to 1 year.

Traumatic dentognathic occlusion and its consequences
Abstract
The influence produced by dental treatment on the condition of the dentomaxillary system and on the general status was studied in 54 patients aged 18 to 80. Disorders related with the correct closure of jaws resulting from dental treatment procedures were detected; such disorders led to severe functional malfunctions of the dentomaxillary system. The reasons of violations of dental technologies, errors permitted in treatment and their relation with clinical signs of complications were thoroughly examined, which led to defining a diversity of clinical forms of complications with a common patho- genesis - incorrect closure of teeth at rest and at load. On the basis of it, it was concluded that clinical symptoms of malfunctions in closure of teeth share many common pathogenetic features, which can be referred to as the syndrome of "traumatic dentomaxillary occlusion ".
