COMPARISON OF MICROLEMENT AND PROTEIN EXCHANGE IN THE BONE TISSUE OF CAT PERIODONTIUM IN CASES OF NATURALLY OCCURRED PERIODONTITIS
Abstract
Zn occupies a special position among microelements due to its important role and multidirectional participation in various biochemical and physiological processes in mammalia. Although the mechanisms ofZn exchange and its effects are not quite clear yet, the cited literature and the results of studies presented in the article evidence the supreme role ofZn in healthy and pathologically changed mineralized tissues. The work demonstrates a clear difference between metabolism of Zn and that ofAg, Al, Bi, Co, Cr, Fe, Mo, and Si in the mandibular bone in cases of periodontitis, underlied by predominant redistribution of protein-bound Zn. The lowered content of the other 8 microelements is mostly caused by local resorption and osteosclerotic changes in the mandibular bone.

Study of effects of bacteriostatic therapy in animal experiments. A microbiological study
Abstract
The results of in vivo experiments demonstrated the highest efficacy of application of the photosensitizer -0.1% gel of Radahlorin™ - combined with continuous or superimpuls low-energy diode laser emission, with energy density of 400 J/cm2 and 1 W power. The use of the given parameters led to complete elimination of Streptococcus pyogenes from the inflammatory foci in the oral cavity of experimental animals

The results of comparison of efficacy of caries-preventive measures including reflexotherapy, according to the results of structural and functional enamel resistance test
Abstract
The aim of the study was to compare caries-preventive effects of fluoride lacquer, reflexotherapy, and the combination of fluoride lacquer and acupuncture, according to the results of structural and functional enamel resistance test. The subjects were 513 individuals aged 15 to 25, divided into 5 groups. In group I (80 subjects) fluoride lacquer was used; group II (101 subjects) received acupuncture; in group III (79 subjects) fluoride lacquer was applied in combination with acupuncture; control group I consisted of 27 people with a zero filling caries of extracted teeth (FCET) level; control group 11-185 individuals who received no preventive procedures. Comparative analysis of the results of structural and functional enamel resistance test suggests that

Local oral cavity immunity and microflora in International Space Station astronauts
Abstract
The article is dedicated to correlations between local oral cavity immunity and microbiocenosis, studied on 21 astronauts who had performed eight 130- to 195-day orbital flights on International Space Station. After the end of a flight, most of them displayed increase of secretory immunoglobulin content in oral cavity liquid, which is evidence of high antigen burden during spaceflights. Changes in microbiocenosis included increase of the number of paradontopathologic microorganisms (it may happen as soon as during the flight), retention of yeast-like fungi dissemination, and absence of some "stabilizing" strains that had been found in the subjects before the flights

Tongue myotonometry in patients receiving neuroleptics
Abstract
Treatment of psychiatric patients with neuroleptics often results in such a neurological disorder as oral hyperkinesis. The method described and used by the authors allows early revealing and quantitative evaluation of this adverse effect of the drugs. The study demonstrates a direct correlation between the length of therapy with neuroleptics and the increase of muscle tone.

Long-term results of orthopedic treatment with cobalt-chrome clasp dental prosthesises
Abstract
30 patients aged 45 to 65, who had had 40 cobalt-chrome (CC DENT) clasp dental prosthesises placed on the upper and lower jaws in 2000 - 2002, were followed up by Chair of Orthopedic Dentistry of Moscow State Medical Dental University. The examination demonstrated high clinical effectiveness of the orthopedic treatment in all the patients with clasp dental prosthesises 3 to 5 years after their placement in the mouth cavity. Follow-up of such patients is appropriate. Examinations should be performed at least annually, in order to take rehabilitation and preventive measures when necessary
