EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF REPARATIVE PROCESSES IN JAW-BONE DEFECTS CLOSED WITH THE OSTEOPLASTIC MATERIAL GAPKOL WITH HYALURONIC ACID AND CHONDROITIN SULFATE

Abstract

Reparative processes in experimental mandibular bone defects are characterized by intensive neoformation of osteogenic connective tissue and bone structures when the defects are closed with plane Gapkol. Closing defects with Gapkol with chondroitin sulfate firstly leads to formation of a connective tissue reclaim, followed by its ossification and bone structure formation via endochondral and perichondral chondropoiesis. Use of hyaluronic acid alone retards bone wound healing, whereas application of a composition of Gapkol plus hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate preparations substantially accelerates formation of a valid bone and bone-and-cartilaginous reclaim.

New methodical potentialities of investigation of hard tooth tissue density characteristics

Abstract

The subjects were patients aged 12 to 16 years. A complex of modern physical methods was used to investigate hard tooth tissue of both intact teeth and those at various stages of carious process. Computed microtomography revealed low density focuses in the hard tissue of visually intact teeth. X-ray microprobe technique revealed decrease of Ca/P ratio (by approximately 0.04), and scanning electron microscopy found alteration of tissue structure in these focuses. There were even more pronounced alterations of hard tissue in teeth with a deep carious cavity: Ca/P ratio was 1.6 outside and 1.45 inside the cavity. The study shows that computed microtomography is a prospective method of revealing and studying early alterations of enamel and dentine. The offered complex approach allows obtaining complementary detailed information on density distribution, morphological structure, and chemical composition of hard tooth tissue. It opens new opportunities for development of preventive measures and treatment of the main dental diseases

Secondary deformations of facial bones and dental system in children with lymphangioma of facial soft tissues and diffuse tongue lymphangioma

Abstract

Orthodontic treatment is an obligatory part of complex therapy of children with maxillofacial lymphangiomas; it should begin as early as possible. The terms of orthodontic treatment, and the kinds of construction used depend on the localization and extent of the tumor, the age the patient applies to a specialized health institution, the kind and degree of dental anomalies, and the number of stages of previous surgical treatment. If there are no conditions for fixation of an orthodontic apparatus due to pronounced macroglossia and excessive tissue of the oral cavity floor, orthodontic treatment should be preceded by one or several stages of surgical treatment.

Plasty of maxillary sinus floor mucosa for dental implantation. Report 1. Two-stage sinus lifting for dental implantation

Abstract

198 patients with osteal tissue atrophy of alveolar process of maxilla and low position of maxillary sinus floor underwent sinus lifting using Tatum approach as a part of complex treatment by the method of intraosteal dental implantation. Rapture of the mucosa of maxillary sinus floor, causing a large perforation, occurred in 62 (31.3%) patients due to cicatrical and sclerotic changes of the mucosa. The authors developed a two-stage maxillary sinus floor plasty in cases of a large defect. The first stage was closing the mucosa defect with a resorbable membrane. The latter was applied to a previously formed osteal window with 3-5-mm overlapping and no additional fixation. The second stage, performed 3 months later, consisted in raising of the newly-formed floor, and its plasty with biomaterial. Positive results were achieved in all the 62 patients, which allowed intraosteal dental implantation. The patients were followed up during 2 to 5 years.

Clinico-laboratory-morphological parallels of mixed saliva character and the condition of salivary glands in opium addicts

Abstract

The study included histomorphological examination of large salivary glands samples taken from the corpses of 24 opium addicts (OA), as well as clinical investigation of quantitative and qualitative parameters of mixed saliva in 27 subjects who had been active OAfor up to 4 years. The study found morphological evidence of sialoangiitis (inflammation, sclerosis, and atrophy); the laboratory data demonstrated decrease of salivation, increase of viscosity, intensification of sedimentation, and pH reduction in the mixed saliva vs. control. Structural and functional changes in the salivary glands correlated with qualitative parameters of oral fluid in OA.

Fluorine, calcium,and phosphorus content in temporary tooth enamel after Diplen F films application on sites of caries at chalky spot stage

Abstract

The article is dedicated to fluoride, calcium, and phosphorus content in the intact enamel, in cases of caries at chalky spot stage, and after application of Diplen Ffilms, containing natrium fluoride, evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and qualitative analysis. The study demonstrated that application of the given films significantly increased the content of fluorine, calcium and phosphorus in temporary tooth enamel. After application of Diplen F films fluoride concentration in deep enamel layers increased 5 times, its superficial concentration - 2.9 times vs. fluoride concentration in demineralized enamel. This proves that Diplen Ffilms are efficient at initial stage of caries.

A method of caries prevention in children on orthodontic treatment

Conventional methods of caries prevention in orthodontic patients disregard the condition of the immune system. The studies performed by the author have shown that efficacy of caries preventive measures is much lower in patients having secondary immunodeficiency caused by apparatus treatment. The method described in the article has allowed prevention of the treatment-associated immunodeficiency, and increased the efficacy of caries prevention
