APPLICATION OF A NEW REMINERALIZING PREPARATION, BV, FOR SAFE "OFFICE" DENTAL BLEACHING

Volkov Y.A., Fiapshev A.Z., Volozhin A.I.

Abstract

The effects of application of Opalescence Xtra Boost (Ultradent, USA), a dental bleaching gel, followed by application of BV, a remineralizing agent, on the dental enamel, was studied in a dog experiment; BV was applied immediately after the bleaching, as well as on the 15th and the 30th day. The bleaching resulted in certain changes of the enamel surface: the absence of pellicula and uncovering of enamel prisms. The use of В V led to formation of crystal substance on the dental enamel surface. The bleaching-induced changes in the pulp were reversible and consisted in focal hyperemia and appearance of a moderate number of inflammatory infdtration cells. The results of the study substantiate clinical application of BV, a remineralizing preparation, after dental bleaching.

The results of a comparative analysis of the suitability of a new gold solder for Russian metalloceramic alloys

Parunov V.A., Alexandrovsky V.L., Kaziyeva K.О., Stepanova G.S.

Abstract

Production of fixed metalloceramic dental bridges, including those with noble metal frames, is an important part of everyday work in orthopedic dentistry. Russian noble alloys are broadly used in Russian dentistry for production of the frames of metalloceramic dental bridges. These alloys are Plagodent™ (Super KM), Palladent™ (Superpal), and Vitiry. A special high-temperature gold solder alloy Super- VP has been developed by Department of Hospital Orthopedic Dentistry of Moscow State Medical Dental University in collaboration with the laboratory of Scientific Research Medical Dental Institute and Federal State Unitary Enterprise Research-And-Practical Complex Supermetal. Super- VP conforms to ISO 9333-90. The paper presents the results of an experimental study and comparison of Super-VP fluidity on substrate layers of different noble dental alloys.

The effectiveness of experimental obturation of vital and devitalized teeth's dentinal tubules using synthetic hydroxyapatite and fluorohydroxyapatite

Kramar S.V., Lebedenko I.Y., Volozhin A.I.

Abstract

Filling of the dentinal tubules (DT) of dog teeth with ultra dispersible fluorohydroxyapatite (udFHAP) was studied in dog experiments. The preparation was introduced under the temporary crowns of vital and depulpated teeth for 3 to 12 weeks. The hard tissues of the teeth were studied using scanning microscopy. The layer of the crystal substance, covering dentin, was practically equal during temporary crown use. High-quality obturation and deeper penetration of udFHAP into DT was observed in vital teeth; it displayed a positive correlation with the term of the experiment. The study demonstrated that udFHAP increased dental hard tissue resistance after odontopreparation in cases of both vital and depulpated teeth.

A complex analysis of inflammatory complications following mechanical trauma of the lower face

Korotkikh N.G., Bakhmetyev V.I., Shalayev O.Y., Antimenko О.О.

Abstract

The authors of the article analyzed inflammatory complications in 109 patients with mechanical trauma of the lower face, undergoing treatment in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. The study shows that the character and severity of posttraumatic inflammatory complications in lower jaw fractures correlate with the mechanisms of the trauma

Diagnostics of palatopharyngeal insufficiency following uranoplasty in children and adolescents

Yumashev D.P., Dyakova S.V., Agayeva V.E.

Abstract

The subjects of the study were 84 patients aged 8 to 20, who had undergone uranoplasty. Endoscopic method, as the most informative one, was applied in order to visualize structures that participate in palatopharyngeal closing; a flexible fibrooptical naso-pharingo-laringoscope (Pentax FNL-15RP3) with an ED of 4.9 mm was used. Insufficient palatopharyngeal closing was revealed in 69 (82%) of patients with rhinolalia, rhinophonia, or residual rhonilalia. Lateral teleradiography of the head was performed in 12 (14.3%) cases for precise measurement of the vertical length of palatopharyngeal closing. The results of the study show that the described method of endoscopic evaluation of palatopharyngeal closing is the most informative, approachable and non-invasive one. When combined with radiography, it does not require any additional methods of palatopharyngeal insufficiency diagnostics

Experience of microabrasion in treatment of patients with dental fluorosis

Krikhely N.I.

Abstract

The article presents clinico-laboratory data concerning application of a preparation for enamel microabrasion for the improvement of dental color in patients with dental fluorosis. The author demonstrates the effectiveness of microabrasion, as well as its influence on enamel structure, dental sensitivity, and the soft tissues of oral cavity. The study evidences the necessity of application of prophylactic preparations in order to prevent complications following dental microabrasion.

Kuzmina E.M., Krikhely N.I.

Abstract

The article presents clinico-laboratory data concerning application of a system containing 25% hydrogen peroxide activated with a xenon metal-halide lamp for vital professional dental bleaching. The author demonstrates the effectiveness of bleaching, as well as the influence of the bleaching preparation on enamel penetrability, dental sensitivity, and the soft tissues of oral cavity. The study evidences the necessity of prophylactic measures for prevention of complications following professional dental bleaching

Diagnostics of allergic intolerance to prosthetic materials

Lebedev K.A., Ponyakina I.D., Mitronin A.V., Sagan L.G., Goncharov I.Y., Godunova M.I.

Abstract

The growth of the incidence of allergic intolerance to prosthetic materials within the last decades makes the problem of its diagnostics and choice of inert prosthetic materials very important. Allergic intolerance to these materials is delayed-type hypersensitivity. There are specific allergic reactions, as well as pseudoallergic ones. The latter are more frequent. The optimal approach to detection of allergic intolerance to prosthetic materials is application of a complex of in vitro and in vivo methods. This complex includes peroxidase test, which allows detection of sensitization to the prosthetic material. This is followed by mucogingival reaction test, which allows differentiation between latent sensitization of the organism, and clinically manifest material intolerance. If the patient cannot afford this laboratory method, oral cavity provocation test may be performed instead

The role of soft dental plaque microflora in the development of periodontal inflammatory diseases and its sensitivity to antibacterial drugs in opium addicts

Struyev I.V., Naumkina Y.V., Rudakov N.V., Semenyuk V.M.

Abstract

The subjects of the study were 16 opium addicts, 8 of whom had been using drugs for up to I year (group I), and, other 8-for a longer time (group II). The study found increase of Neisseria spp. and Streptococcus spp. titers, agai the background of constantly elevated Corynebacterium spp. and Enterococcus spp. titers. The microflora sensitiv to basic antibiotics remains. The results of the study show that dental plaque microflora dose not play the main n in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases in opium addicts.

Effects of sociohygienic and other factors on incidence of total tooth loss in elderly residents of Uzbekistan

Adilova S.Т., Adilov Z.K., Akilov T.A.

Abstract

The subjects of the study were 1,037 individuals aged 60 or older, selected from three towns and one village situated in different administrative regions of Uzbekistan, living separately or together with their relatives. The study revealed high frequency of total absence of teeth in these subjects, correlating with age and sex. An analysis of various factors influencing this situation showed that, in contrast to developed countries, in families of native nationalities elderly patients live together with their children and relatives, who take of them in 91.5% of cases.
