The clinical course and diagnosis of retention cysts of sublingual glands in children
Abstract
Complicated diagnosis of retention cysts of sublingual glands (RC SG) are explained by the rare nature of the pathology. Sometimes, the clinical diagnosis is possible only after additional examination methods are performed for the purpose of visualizing the SG ducts and neoplasm, its tunics, vascular anatomy, localization and correlation with tissues and SG. The below should be considered while performing the differential diagnosis of the mouth bottom and choosing a surgery technique: - age-related specific features of the anatomy of the mouth bottom; - age-related SG localizations and SG anatomy; - a possible extension of the cyst into neighboring regions; - presence of similar cystic neoplasms; detailed findings of examination of a patient including extra examination methods, e.g. ultrasound.

Phonetic adaptation to bridgeworks in the prosthesis of the anterior maxillary region
Abstract
Issues associated with phonetic adaptation to bridgeworks made during different time intervals at clinics of Moscow and its suburbs are elucidated. The defects exposed in the designs of bridgeworks for the anterior maxdlary region affected the articulation ability. On the basis of morphometry research made on the diagnostic models and with respect to their adjustment, an optimal positioning of teeth was chosen for the intermediate stretch (IS) of the prosthesis; an optimal correlation of the IS with the maxillary alveolar process, and, an optimal inclination angle of teeth was selected in regard to the anterior palate region. Speech samples recorded before the old dentures were taken off, in the process of making of temporary plastic dentures and before the permanent bridgeworks were fixed verified, on the basis of the auditing and computer acoustic analysis, the correct choice of parameters in designing the permanent bridgeworks

Effects caused by the chitosan solution on the microbiocenosis and lysozyme level of the mouthcavity fluid as observed in patients with carcinoma of the tongue during surgery
Abstract
The changed microflora and lysozyme level in the mouth fluid were studied in 30 patients with carcinoma of the tongue before and after the surgical treatment stage involving the routine general and local medicamental therapy plus 1% water-based chitosan solution of hydrochloric acid administered postoperatively. A lower rate of discharge and a decreased quantitative composition of opportunistically pathogenetic microorganisms were registered in the mouth fluid; besides, a trend was established towards a higher content of lysozyme in the mouth fluid of patients on days 9-11 after radical hemiglossectomy. A quantitative build-up of the normal flora on the average by 1.2 ± 0.8 Ig CFU/ml (p <0.05) and a lack of Candida fungi in inoculation were detected in patients after chitosan therapy, which was not the case in patients after routine therapy alone. The amount of lysozyme in the mouth fluid of group-1 patients (with chitosan) went up after treatment 1.6-fold to reach on the average 44.87 /jg/ml. An average 1.4-fold increase of lysozyme was registered in group-2 patients, the mean value was 35.9 /Jg/ml.

A study of strength of adhesive ormocer bridgeworks
Abstract
The paper presents a study of adhesive bridgeworks made of ormocer and fibrous materials. Adhesive bridgeworks were made in vitro for the purpose. Strength test was made by loading the bridgeworks' intermediates until visible destructions appear. The study results denote that the adhesive bridgework collapses when a load of 261 ± 5.2 kg is put on its intermediate part. Hence, the breaking load of the adhesive bridgework according to Chedisemov exceeds 3.2-fold the load that can be tolerated by the healthy parodentium

3D visualization of the maxillofacial region in examination of the mandibular joint
Abstract
Computer tomography of the mandibular joint (MJ) was made for 7 patients with deficiency of teeth and with symptoms of MJ malfunction. 3D visualization of the maxillofacial region was made in a detailed study of morphology, special orientation and of anatomic-and-topographic correlations of MJ volumetric anatomic elements. 3D rendering as well as 3D section and projection made within the diagnosis make it possible to scrutinize the differences between functional and morphological abnormalities in the mandibular joint and enhance essentially the efficiency of rehabilitation of patients with the pathology.

Likazol in radiotherapy of patients with malignant tumors of the maxillofacial region
Abstract
Radiotherapy has been until now a major method of treatment for malignant tumors in the maxillofacial region. The facial integument is more resistant to radiation than the oral mucous tunics. Considering the above, we used "Likazol", an aerosol worked up at the "Pharmzashchita" Collagen Preparations and Products Division of the Research Center of the Moscow Medical Academy, Moscow. It contains tocopherol (a natural antioxidant), lidocaine (anesthetic), 1,2-propylenglycole and collagen. No complications or allergic reactions were registered

Local factors and inflammation lesions in the parodentium
Abstract
We made comprehensive stomatological examinations of 2216 children and teenagers with different conditions of the parodentium. The cluster analysis was made use of to share the children between groups with the most frequently combined morphofunctional peculiarities of the dentalmaxillary system. The system's anomalies aggravated by a variety of functional impairments complicated by unsatisfactory hygiene of the oral cavity and by unfavorable morphological peculiarities of the mouth vestibule are a more essential risk factor for the development of pathology of parodontal tissues than when only one of them is at work.

Psychoemotional tests in the diagnosis of myofacial pain dysfunction
Abstract
The psychoemotional conditions of 208 students were studied. A correlation was found between the psychoemotional status and the presence of pathological changes in the maxillofacial region of the examinees, which can provoke myofacialpain dysfunction (MPD). The results are recommended for use in the diagnosis of diseases of the temporomandibular joint.

The specificity of the mineral composition of hard dental tissues in workers of the Fergana Chemical Fibers Plant
Abstract
Discussed in the paper are the results of a study of biologically active chemical elements contained in blood mixed non-stimulated saliva and hard dental tissues of workers occupied at the Fergana Chemical Fibers Plant (FCFP); modern instrumental methods of the neutron-activation analysis were made use of. Changes in the microelements of blood, saliva and hard dental tissues as well as changes in the enzymatic saliva spectrum (conditioned to a great extent by hazardous occupational factors) were found in FCFP workers.
