Experimental application of Veitlonella strains to increase colonization resistance of oral tissues in "ligature" periodontitis

Volozhin A.I., Tsaryov V.N., Ilyin V.K., Abramova І.V., Gemonov V.V., Druzhinina R.A.

Abstract

The leading role of pyogenic bacteria vs. human periodontopathogenic microflora was demonstrated on an experimental model of periodontitis in rats. The application of resident microflora belonging to the anaeroblc-mlcroaerophilic group (a mixture of reference strains of Veillonella parvula+ Streptococcus salivarius; the density of the suspension of the both bacterial strains for colonization was l(f CFU/ml in the nutrient medium AC (Oxoid)) with drinking water positively influenced oral mucosa microbiocenosis in rats, which manifested by complete elimination of staphylococci and reduction of total microbial insemination. The pathomorphological study demonstrated that restorative processes in periodontal tissues ran substantially faster in rats receiving resident microflora.

The application of the immunomodulator heponum in complex therapy of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis: a clinical immunological study

Bulkina N.V., Lukina L.V., Glybochko A.P., Osipova Y.L., Morgunova V.M., Kovtunova O.V.

Abstract

The application of heponum in complex therapy of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis normalizes cytokine profile balance, i.e. reduces the concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1/3, TNF-a, and IF-y) in the periodontal pocket contents, increases the concentration of the pro-inflammatory 1L-4, and normalizes the contents of IgG and slgA. Local application of heponum makes it possible to increase the quality of treatment, reduce preoperative preparation time to 10 days (vs. 14 to 16 days when conventional treatment is applied), shorten postoperative rehabilitation, and achieve stable remission in 82% of patients with mild chronic periodontitis and 77% of patients with moderate periodontitis after 6 months of observation.

The role of cytokines in the regulation of periodontal inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes

Dorzhiyeva Z.V., Spasova O.O.

Abstract

The authors analyze the results of the examination of 176 patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study found that the levels of the cytokines IL-4, IL-8, and IL-10 in the peripheral blood were significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic generalized periodontitis vs. patients with chronic generalized periodontitis and persons with an intact periodontium. There was a reverse correlation between the severity of periodontal tissue inflammation and the serum level of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-8.

Cytokine profile variables for the evaluation of the clinical course and efficacy of treatment of chronic generalized periodontitis in patients with duodenal ulcer

Lepilin A.V., Kozlova І.V., Ostrovskaya L.Y., Kargin D.V.

Abstract

Local cytokine profile (tumor necrosis factor-a, IL-8, IL-4, 1L-10, interferon-y) in patients with chronic generalized periodontitis (CGP) and duodenal ulcer (DU) was studied. The study found that patients with periodontitis and DU developed local immune response, which is realized primarily through the Th2-helper mechanism. A torpid course of CGP is associated with prolonged DU cicatrization and a moderate increase in the oral fluid level of pro- and antiinflammatory cytokines, which remains during the course of treatment. It was shown that ozonotherapy in this category of patients favored the disappearance of periodontitis manifestations, chronic DU reparation, and restoration of oral fluid cytokine balance.

Endogenic intoxication and its correction in patients with odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmons

Pavlyuchenko I.I., Gayvoronskaya T.V.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to improve the efficacy of treatment of patients with odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmons. The study found that the use of sodium hypochlorite, rexode, and reamberine as components added to the basic therapy had a positive effect on the course of the disease, shortened hospital stay, and improved the quality of treatment.

The proand antioxidative status and their correction in patients with odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmons

Petrosyan E.A., Gayvoronskaya T.V.

Abstract

Changes in pro- and antioxidaiive status variables in 13 patients with odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmons were analyzed; some of the variables were found to be altered to some degree. Sodium hypochlorite, rexode, and reamberine were shown to be efficient in correction of the disturbances of the pro- and antioxidaiive status vs. the basic therapy in this group of patients.
