Abstract

The aim of the work is to analyze the frequency of oral cavity galvanosis according to the data of special literature, to establish the list of etiological factors, to establish the level of research into the relationship of the latter with the frequency of clinical manifestations of the considered pathological process, as well as to determine the list of unresolved issues.

Materials and methods. Special literature including data on the frequency of oral galvanosis and etiological factors causing its development over the last 25 years was analyzed. A descriptive method was used to analyze the data.

Results. Corrosion of metals of orthopedic constructions and restorations with the use of metal components in the oral cavity of patients against the background of somatic diseases at the occurrence of electrochemical processes can be considered as pathological processes of mutual aggravation. However, to date, this fact has not been objectively confirmed.

Despite the available data on the significant role of oral fluid in the development of galvanosis and its effect on tissues and organs of the oral cavity, no clear criteria of its physico-biochemical and immunological parameters have been defined, allowing their use for diagnostic and prognostic purposes to control the phenomena of galvanosis.

Conclusion. The totality of the listed facts testifies to the absence of a slender system of prognostic and diagnostic measures of galvanosis in the oral cavity, which will be the task of our further studies.
