Abstract
The problem of choosing a surgical treatment technique for patients with oral potentially malignant diseases with epithelial dysplasia remains an open topic for discussion at the moment. This is due to the lack of a widely implemented method in dental practice that guarantees the most successful result. Laser technologies can improve the quality and efficiency of dental care for the population. Analysis of data from domestic and international literature demonstrates the lack of research examining the effectiveness of fiber lasers in the treatment of dysplastic lesions of the oral epithelium. The objective of the presented clinical case is to demonstrate the process and results of surgical excision of oral epithelial dysplasia using a fiber laser in order to increase the effectiveness of treatment of patients with this pathology. A fiber laser with a wavelength of 1.94 µm was used to treat verrucous leukoplakia with epithelial dysplasia, the malignization of which reaches 65.8%. As a result of exposure to the fiber laser, a favorable course of the postoperative period was noted, as well as the absence of aesthetic, functional and phonetic disorders in the long term. This allows us to conclude that surgical treatment of a patient with oral potentially malignant disease with epithelial dysplasia is highly effective by using a fiber laser with a wavelength of 1.94 µm.
