Sanosyan G.V., Budylina S.M., Lebedenko I.Y., Sanosyan G.V., Budylina S.M., Lebedenko I.Y.

Abstract

The sensory function of parodontium of the front tooth group under normal conditions and at various stages of orthopedic treatment with the use of block and single constructions was studied with the use of an original method (food item retention and disintegration test) and a Perosensometer apparatus. The patients included in the study had intact periodontal tissues. It was shown that the sensory function of parodontium underwent 3-4-fold deterioration at such stages of orthopedic treatment as anesthesia and fixation of blocks of temporary mouthguides. The sensory function either recovered after fixation of permanent single orthopedic constructions, e.g. veneers, or remained compromised after permanent bridge prostheses had been installed.

Nazhmudinov S.A., Daurova F.Y., Khabadze Z.S., Nazhmudinov S.A., Daurova F.Y., Khabadze Z.S.

Abstract

The prevalence and severity of dental caries among elderly populations of three regions of the Republic of Dagestan were estimated. The study was carried out in 2008 and included a total of 600 subjects at the age from 55 to 74 years (200 in each region). It revealed the high prevalence (100%) and DMFT score (from 18.8 +- 0.1 to 21.3 +- 0.1) of caries among elderly residents of the high-altitude Dagestanian regions. These data suggest poor quality of stomatological services provided to the local population. The authors emphasize the necessity of taking into consideration population-specific factors in the elaboration of therapeutic and preventive stomatological care programs for the mountain regions of Dagestan.

Structural and functional relationships between intra- and extraosseous elements in the bone-implant-prosthesis system

Lepilin A.V., Lomakin M.V., Smirnov D.A., Lepilin A.V., Lomakin M.V., Smirnov A.D.

Abstract

The connection of an implant and an abutment is a challenging problem because it is one of the main factors on which the duration of functioning of the entire intraosseous construction depends. The resulting connection node (interface node) influences the state of the bone-implant-prosthesis complex and the reaction of the surrounding soft and hard tissues to implantation. A review of the literature data is presented. It is shown that the modified connection in the form of a combination of a cone and a polyhedron ensures the more uniform distribution of pressure. The definition of the concept of platform switching is proposed. The results of research demonstrating the high efficacy of application of the described method are presented.
