THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE HYDROLYTIC RESISTANCE OF BASE RESINS FOR THE ORTHOPEDIC DEVICES

Domenyuk D.A., Zelensky I.V., Ivancheva E.N.

Abstract

The hydrostatic resistance of base acrylic resins designed for the fabrication of orthopedic devices was estimated by measuring the surface energy and penetration coefficient with the help of the edge wetting angle technique. It was shown that the photocurable base material "Triad" exhibits the marked hydrolytic resistance and high anti-adhesive properties preventing the deposition of microorganisms from the oral fluids. Reduced bacterial population density in the tissues of the denture supporting area makes it possible to improve the efficacy of the orthodontic methods and enhances the probability of favourable prognosis of long-term clinical results.

CHARACTERISTICS OF APOPTOSIS AND NO SYNTHASE IN THE MUCOUS MEMBRANE OF THE HUMAN THE MAXILLARY SINUS IN CASE OF AN INJURY AND CHRONIC INFLAMMATION

Edranov S.S.

Abstract

This study has demonstrated that a mechanical injury and chronic rhinosinusitis are associated with a rise in the activity of an inducible isoenzyme of N0 synthase (iNOS) and an increase of the apoptotic index in the mucous cells of the maxillary sinus of man. In the case of a fracture of the upper jaw, the apoptotic nuclei are visualized throughout the entire cross section of the many-layer epithelium and the mucous membrane showing the tendency toward assembling into focal groups. However, under conditions of chronic inflammation, the apoptotic fibroblast-like and mast cells predominate in the deep-lying submucous layers. The results of the study are discussed in the context of the data about the cytotoxic and apoptogenic function of NO in the mucous membrane.

THE MICROBIAL LANDSCAPE OF THE ORAL CAVITY IN THE PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH GNATHIC DEFECTS AND LOCAL ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY

Astashina N.B., Rogozhnikov G.I., Gorovits E.S., Karpunina T.I.

Abstract

The objective of the present work was to estimate the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effects of "Klyuchi ’ mineral water in the patients presenting with the defects of upper and lower jaws. The clinical and microbiological examination involved a total of 40 subjects including 15 patients with the defects of the upper and lower jaws whose rehabilitative treatment was carried out with the use of the mineral water for irrigation and rinsing of the oral cavity. Ten patients with gnathic defects who used distilled water for rinsing and irrigation constituted the control group. It was shown that the treatment with mineral water resulted in a decrease of the number of CF strains of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms and a reduction of their virulence potential. Specifically, more than half of them did not show hemolytic properties and almost all lost the phospholipase activity. Importantly, the microbial associations in 13 patients included fungi of the genus Candida, mostfrequently in the diagnostically important titers (≥ 104 CFU / ml). The irrigation of the oral cavity with mineral water allowed their complete elimination to be achieved. The results of the study have demonstrated the high balneotherapeutic efficacy of the "Klyuchi" drinking mineral water which gives ground to recommend its application for the treatment and prevention of oral cavity dysbacteriosis in the patients presenting with the defects of both jaws and after osteoplastic interventions on the mandible.

Durnovo E.A., Vysel’tseva Y.V., Mishina N.V., Khomutinnikova N.E., Marochkina M.S.

Abstract

The results of analysis of clinical and morphological characteristics of the inflammatory process in the maxillofacial region are reported based on the observation of 83 patients presenting with disseminated odontogenic phlegmons and their complications. It was shown that the clinical manifestations of the dissemination and complicated inflammatory process in the soft tissues of the maxillofacial region were represented by five variants of the inflammatory reaction of the hyperergic type. The clinico-immunological diagnostic and prognostic criteria of the inflammatory process have been developed providing a basis for the precise characteristic and prognostication of the further course of the disease and rational planning of its management.

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF DOMESTIC GIDROKSIAPATITSODERZHASCHIH OSTEOPLASTIC MATERIALS IN THE TREATMENT OF PERIODONTITIS

Lepilin A.V., Erokim N.L., Bisultanov H.U., Bulkin U.A., Nozdrachov V.G.

Abstract

The present clinical and laboratory study included 90 patients presenting with chronic generalized periodontitis. It was shown that the application of the osteoplastic materials containing hydroxyapatite manufactured in this country, such as Ostim-10 and Osteoplast-K, promotes creation of the favourable conditions for the effective healing of postoperative wounds following surgical interventions on the periodontium. The criterion for the choice of the osteoplastic material is derived from the results of the estimation of the microbial landscape in the oral cavity.

THE TREATMENT OF MANDIBULAR FRACTURES WITHIN THE DENTITION

Medvedev Y.A., Milyukova D.Y., D’yachkova E.Y.

Abstract

The present study has demonstrated the possibility of achieving a favourable outcome of the conservative treatment of both the fractures with the totally retained third molar in the absence o ffragment displacement and the cases of extraction of the erupted and semi- retained third molar from the fracture line with the subsequent filling of the alveolar socket with the dental restorative osteoplastic material Kollost. The proposed strategy is considered to be the method of choice in surgical dentistry and maxillofacial surgery for the treatment of the patients with mandibular fractures affecting the dentition.

FORMATION OF THE CULTURE OF HEALTH ON THE NATIONwIDE SCALE

Luk’yanenko V.B., Tsvetkova N.V., Davidenko A.N.

Abstract

At present, the health providers of different levels show serious concern about the health state of different groups of the young population, such as senior schoolchildren, university students, and young specialists starting their life journey and professional career. We believe that this concern arises not only from poor heredity, environmental degradation and low standards of living but also from the ever increasing consumption of nicotine, alcohol, drugs, and other harmful substances that are currently readily available to the young people. An important role in the popularization of such lifestile is played by television and outdoor advertising. We can not influence these factors but can not stand aside either. The improvement of the health status of the youth is currently more than just a mere slogan - it is actually a challenging social and medical problem.
